Parish Nurse
BMPC’s Parish Nurse assists in the church’s healing role through a holistic health ministry dedicated to the care of body, mind, and spirit. This includes assessing and identifying the health and wellness needs of church members, visiting church members in their homes upon referral, providing support after hospitalization or during crises, and providing information about health-related support services. A consult with our Parish Nurse may help with:
- Questions related to a diagnosis or health challenge
- Grieving the loss of a loved one
- Short-term practical help (e.g., borrowing medical equipment)
- Finding a support group, fitness class, or health information
- Concerns related to caregiving (of children, parents, or those with impairments)
All communications and conversations between the Parish Nurse and members will be treated confidentially, consistent with standards of nursing practice and pastoral care. No information will be divulged to staff, congregation, family, or other health care professionals without the express consent of the member.
Social Worker
BMPC’s Social Worker provides specialized counsel to senior adults, children, and their families and assesses the personal and social needs of church members facing change or crisis. Our Social Worker also organizes volunteers to help members in need and assists those with challenges by offering counseling, psychosocial assessment, referrals to agencies, and support during a life transition or difficult time.
Social Workers are trained to listen, assess needs, evaluate situations, suggest options, and recommend solutions. A Social Worker may help with:
- Community resources for oneself or a loved one
- Assessment, information, or education on a topic of psychosocial concern
- Support for a life transition
- Support to continue living at home
If you need assistance, please contact Kathryn West, Social Worker, at 610-525-2821.
